Media Release- December 15 The Council has received an allocation of $506 000 in the $250 million allocation from Federal Government for Local and Regional Infrastructure. The Federal Government has used an objective, transparent and accountable process based on data collected by the State and Local Government Grants Commission applied through the Financial Assistance Grants. Under the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program (RLCIP) the funding can be spent to improve:
At the Council meeting on Tuesday the 9th December, Council elected to spend the money in the following ways,
These three issues have been discussed in Council meetings and by the public at length. The Ungarie Swimming Pool was originally to receive $75 000 and the upgrade of the footpaths were allocated $306 000 but council reassigned $25 000 to the Ungarie Swimming Pool to increase that total to $100 000. These projects must be completed by December 2009, as specified by RLCIP, to be eligible to receive the grant. Work is progressing towards complying with this requirement.
