Media Release 29 September 2009 Australia Day is a time for all Australians to celebrate and be thankful for all the wonderful opportunities this country provides. It is on this day that communities right across the nation honour individuals and groups that contribute so much to their community. Nominations are now open for the Bland Shire Australia Day Awards that honour Bland Shire residents who have contributed towards the community in a positive and selfless manner. 2009 has seen many well organised events, individuals contributing many hours towards community groups and young people getting heavily involved in the community. Nominations will be accepted in the following categories
"It is a great way to give credit to all the wonderful community minded people we have in the Shire" Mayor Tony Lord said. "To be nominated is very special so we are urging people to take the time to fill out the nomination form thoroughly." The criterion for each award is clearly stated in the nomination form that can be collected from Council's customer Service Desk or Council's website www.blandshire.nsw.gov.au. Please read carefully before completing. Nomination forms, with supporting material, are to be sent to; Bland Shire Council PO Box 21 West Wyalong NSW 2671 Or handed in at Council's Customer Service Desk. Nominations can also be faxed to 6972 2145 or emailed to council@blandshire.nsw.gov.au. Nominations are due by 4pm 11 December, 2009. Nominations will not be accepted after this date.
