Bland Shire Mayor Re-elected

Last modified: September 16, 2009 - 3:51 PM

Media Release 16 September 2009

Cr Tony Lord was re-elected for his second term as Bland Shire's Mayor at the Council meeting on 15 September 2009. Cr. Lord and Cr. Neil Pokoney were the only two Councillors to stand for Mayor with the final vote count 6-3.

"I am very honoured to be given the opportunity to serve the Bland Shire as Mayor for the next 12 months" Cr Lord said.

"There are still many decisions in regards to projects that need to be made and Council is committed to completing these projects as a team."

The position of Deputy Mayor saw a change of hands when Cr. Pokoney was elected for the first time. The former Deputy Mayor, Dot Smith, congratulated Cr. Pokoney and offered her full support. Cr. Pokoney received 5 votes to Cr. Smith's 4.

The Council also appointed its delegates and representatives to the advisory committees of Council and external committees for the next 12 months with minor changes to the previous representatives. All Council representatives for each committee will be available for public viewing in the September Council  Meeting Minutes available on the Bland Shire website.
