Chalk Artist to visit West WyalongLast modified: September 9, 2009 - 2:08 PM
Media Release 9 September 2009 Renowned chalk artist Rudy Kistler, will share his skills with local youth and the wider community on Saturday 19th September as part of the celebrations surrounding Event West Wyalong's, Art @ 222 exhibition and Rose Garden Markets. As part of Bland Shire Council's youth program, Rudy will be running a workshop for interested young people on Friday 18th September, followed by the creation of a public chalk artwork on Saturday morning. The idea of offering this unusual art form came about during Brian Robinson's work experience with Bland Shire Council's, Youth Development Officer. "I was given the opportunity to apply for a grant from Eastern Riverina Arts Program and thought it would be good to do something that no one had done in town before" said Brian. Rudy brings with him knowledge gained from all over the world. He has graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from one of America's top Art Universities and has a Masters Degree from Sydney's National Art School. In recent years he has undertaken numerous corporate and public chalk art projects as a result of his outstanding work at the Chalk Urban Art Festivals. Council is pleased to be funding and supporting this project, together with EWRAP, Artstart and TAFE. "The creation of public chalk art will be a way that local youth can contribute to the vibrance of what promises to be an exciting whole community event. It is important for youth to identify and act upon ways that they can engage in our wonderful community and this event presents a perfect opportunity. Youth busking group "Busk for a Buck", will also be providing entertainment during the day" said Youth Development Officer, Michele Carnegie. Contact details |
