New Trees to Beautify West WyalongLast modified: August 18, 2009 - 10:40 AM
Media Release 18 August 2009 A tree planting initiative has been developed by Parks and Gardens to further increase the aesthetic appeal of the Bland Shire and replace dead and damaged trees. Along with the upgrade of our Shire's parks, new trees are being planted at sporting facilities and around streets that are lacking trees or where existing trees are unsuitable for their location because of interference with power lines. The initiative was offered to residents who wanted trees planted along their nature strip. Varieties include Golden Robinia, Chinese Pistachio, Claret Ash, Box Elder and Crepe Myrtle. One resident who happily took the offer up was Mrs. Shirley Kirkman;"I had dead trees at the front of my house and was really pleased when the Council offered to replace them. Once they have grown a bit, it should really brighten up the area." Mrs. Kirkman (pictured) has had two Golden Robinia trees planted on her nature strip Contact details |
