Performance Class- a Rare Opportunity for Local MusiciansLast modified: March 24, 2009 - 11:33 AM
Media Release 24 March 2009 A group of nine young locals with a common interest in developing their musical skills came together in West Wyalong on Sunday 22 March for a performance class facilitated by the Director of Orange Regional Conservatorium, Mr Graham Sattler. Participants developed their musical ability beyond their personal expectations while gaining confidence during a group ‘jam session' with Mr Sattler. The class helped the music students hone their performance skills by working as a group to create some pieces that will be performed together. The students were thrilled to have someone that shared the same interest as them and be so involved with their music. "The best part of the day was exploring music in a group environment", commented participant Brian Robinson. "It was very evident that West Wyalong has some extremely talented young people and this forum is a perfect way for these talents to be developed", said Youth Development Officer, Michele Carnegie. The day is in preparation for Youth Week, "Busk for a Buck" which will offer young people the chance to share their talents with the wider community through busking. The event will begin at 10.30am in front of Thom Dick & Harry's and continues through the morning. Bland Shire Council strongly urges community members to support these musicians in the Main Street on April 4. Contact details |
